BIO
Erica Vanhaute is a professional artist living and working in Memphis, Tennessee. She is primarily a watercolor and oil painter and a draftsperson. Her figurative subject matter initiates the viewer in conversation with the abject—those things in our lives that cause shame, discomfort, and confusion, but from which we can also derive joy, pleasure, intimacy, and understanding. Her paintings express the courage and truth in vulnerability. Through her art, Vanhaute introspects upon inner-self versus outer presentation, physicality and emotionality, and the performance of being. Her paintings are in several private collections in Tennessee and Arkansas. |
